Project & Data type

One BioProject - One data type

  • In K-BDS, only one data type can be registered per primary project. The data type is determined during BioProject submission by selecting the appropriate data type.

  • If a single project generates multiple data types, you must create separate projects for each data type, submit and register the data individually, and then link them using an Umbrella Project.

  • Once data registration is complete, the accession numbers are issued. Users can apply for a data certificate and research and develop outcomes. Note that after the data certificate is issued, no further additions or modifications to the submission are allowed.

Project type

  1. Primary Project : General Project

  2. Umbrella Project : A higher-level BioProject that can group multiple BioProject records

    1. For a multi-year research project :

When you submitted a BioProject each year and want to group them

    2. For a multi-data type research project :

When you submitted a BioProject for each data type and want to group them

    3. For a collaborative research project :

When you submitted a BioProject for each lab and want to group them

Umbrella Project

Scope

  • For a multi-year research project :

When you submitted a BioProject each year and want to group them

  • For a multi-data type research project :

When you submitted a BioProject for each data type and want to group them

  • For a collaborative research project :

When you submitted a BioProject for each lab and want to group them

Relationship

  • Umbrella project has more than one sub-BioProject

  • One sub-BioProject can have only one Umbrella project

  • BioSample, BioData should not be directly connected to Umbrella project

Umbrella Project

Data type

Check only if 'Primary project' is selected in Project type

Description: Select one from the following

No
Possible

1

Genomics data (sequence read, functional data, nucleotide and assembly)

2

Proteomics data from mass spectrometry (MS)

3

Metabolomics data from MS/NMR

4

Chemistry data (structure, assay, profiling)

5

Bio-imaging data (optical, EM, MR, CT, EPhys, etc.)

6

Pre-clinic data

7

Others (generalist)

Group & Submitter Information

Submitter

The submitter is the person responsible for the registered data. After submission, their information will appear in the browse and data certificate. It is recommended that the Principal Investigator (PI) be designated for future contact regarding the data.

When creating a new BioProject, the submitter information is automatically populated from the logged-in K-BDS accounts. If the person is not the Principal Investigator(PI), they can modify the submitter information.

If there are multiple data producers/associates, a group can be created and registered.

Group

In the K-BDS system, the Group function facilitates collaborative data submission and management among multiple users.

  • All group members must be registered with a K-BDS account.

  • It is recommended that the group manager be the principal investigator

  • The group manager has the authority to add or remove members and modify their permissions.

  • All group members can create, edit, and manage submissions according to their permissions.
