3. How to submit
Microarray data and processed high-throughput sequencing(HTS) data can be submitted to KEA through a structured submission process.
KEA submission structure
Each KEA submission comprises multiple interconnected entities, including overall study information, experimental protocols and designs, and associated data files.
📋Study
A study represents the overall research project and provides general information describing the purpose and design of the data. It serves as the top-level organizational unit in KEA
🧪Protocols
The protocols section documents experimental and computational methods used to generate the data. Each protocol should be described clearly to ensure data reproducibility.
🧫KEA Experiments
An experiment describes some experimental characteristics of a biological sample. Each experiment must include sufficient metadata to enable downstream analysis.
🧾Files
Each submission must be linked to one or more files containing the data generated from the experiment. For more detailed information about accepted file formats, please refer to KEA file format guide.
Note: KEA does not store raw FASTQ files from HTS. Please submit raw HTS sequencing data to the appropriate repositories under K-BDS.
KHBDB (Korea Human Biological Data Bank)
Human-derived controlled-access data
Relationship between KEA and Other Databases

Each study is associated with a BioProject and linked to one or more BioSamples.
For sequencing-based experiments, raw data (FASTQ) generated from these BioSamples are stored in KRA, whereas processed expression and epigenomic results (e.g., count matrix, peak calling) are deposited in KEA.
In the case of microarray experiments, both raw (e.g., CEL, IDAT) and processed files (including genomic, transcriptomic, and epigenomic analyses) are deposited directly in KEA.
Through this interconnected structure, KEA maintains traceability from the generation of raw data to the sharing of processed data within the K-BDS.
