2. How to submit
KNA submission: BioProject - BioSample - KNA
BioProject : Summary of the conducted research project, which is mandatory to complete
BioSample : Select the sample package used in your research. Both organism-derived biological specimen and environmental samples can now selected, and the corresponding biological or environmental metadata should be provided
KNA : The submission form for uploading the nucleotide sequence or genome, assemblies, marker sequence, synthetic constructs, or PCR primer along with associated metadata.

Accepted data
The KNA accepts nucleotide sequence, genome, assembly, marker, PCR primer data. Please refer to the File Format Guide for more specific information.
Please refer to
KEA - submit functional genomic studies
KRA - submit genetic data produced by next-generation sequencing technologies
KHBDB - submit human data that require controlled access
Human data
If the data to be registered satisfies all of the following criteria, it must be submitted through the Korea Human Biological Data Bank (KHBDB)
If it is Human Research* or if the data is produced or collected through human-derived materials**,
If the data contains personal information,
If written consent has been obtained from research subjects (donors) for the third-party provision of research data
* Human Research: Research conducted on humans, or using identifiable information, involving physical intervention with individuals, communication, interpersonal contact, or interaction, based on Article 2-1 of the Bioethics Law (Korean, English), as designated by regulations of the Ministry of Health and Welfare.
** Human-derived materials research: Research conducted by directly examining or analyzing tissues, cells, blood, body fluids, or components of the human body, such as serum, plasma, chromosomes, DNA, RNA, proteins, collected or sampled from the human body.
Metagenomic Data
Human metagenomic studies may contain human sequences and require that the donor provide consent to archive their data in an unprotected database. If you would like to archive human metagenomic sequences in the public KNA database please contact the KNA.
When submitting human metagenomic data, please ensure that all human sequence contaminants have been removed.
Pre-requisites
KNA only accepts sequence files (.fasta) and annotation files ( .gff) related to nucleotide sequence or PCR primer (see the File Format Guide for details).
It is allowed to submit up to 2,000 samples per submission. If you have more than 2,000 samples, please create multiple submissions with the same BioProject reference.
Submissions can be linked to the same BioProject to ensure all data are searchable with a single accession.
Once you apply certificate for R&D outcomes, you can NOT add submission under that BioProject. Create a new BioProject and submit data.
KNA does not accept submission of duplicate files and these submissions may be suppressed without warning. In addition, submitting duplicate data will lead to significant delays in processing of the submission.
To update an existing record, do not resubmit the data files; instead, contact the KNA staff (kna@kribb.re.kr) for assistance.
Contact KNA staff
Before contacting KNA staff for assistance please see our Frequently asked question. Please provide your submission's temporary ID in the form of DSUB#in your messages.
